Make every cup count
Use these starting points, then adjust to your taste and your brewer. A scale makes your favorite cup easier to repeat.
g of coffee
For drip, pour-over, and French press. A lower ratio makes a stronger cup; a higher ratio makes a lighter cup. Espresso uses a different recipe.
Start with 20 g of coffee and 320 g of water. Use a medium grind for drip or medium-fine for pour-over. Honduras offers citrus and cacao notes; Costa Rica brings a silky, balanced cup. Choose your preferred roast level.
Start with a coarse grind and a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio. Follow your press instructions and pour out after plunging. Try Playmaker for milk chocolate and toasted nut notes, or Sugarcane Decaf for a naturally sweet decaf cup.
Start with Hat Trick Espresso Blend. Use a fine grind and follow your machine’s dose and brewing guidance. Adjust grind and recipe to taste; the filter-coffee calculator is not an espresso recipe.
Keep the bag sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Grind close to brewing when possible. Need coffee prepared for a specific brewer? Contact First XI before ordering to confirm grind requirements.
